Time for Lime is a special place in the beach paradise of Koh Lanta in Thailand. All the profits of this cooking school / bungalows / restaurant / bar goes to Lanta Animal Welfare. Even this is a good reason to go and visit Time for Lime.

The restaurant there is special because it offers only a tasting menu (plus spring rolls as a bar snack). They don´t have the usual beach restaurant fare with fried rice or pat thai portions. Instead they offer six small portions combined together.

Time for Lime is not a vegetarian restaurant, but the tasting menu is available every evening(except Sundays when the place is closed) as vegan. It would be expensive to eat the tasting menu every day, the price of vegan version is 450 bahts. Usually dishes in the beach restaurants costs half of this at the maximum.

You may start your night with the lovely drinks in the bar. This is a lemon grass margarita.

The tasting menu is a must to do in the island, where restaurant scene is otherwise dull and unvariable. The quality of the tasting menu dishes is so much better than in other restaurants.

Vegans and vegetarians can eat the tasting menu with special appetite, because one can be sure that the food will be vegan. They make the curry paste themselves and know that fish sauce or shrimp paste are not vegetarian.

First dish of the tasting menu: fried vegetables with tofu and cashew nuts served with rice. The sauce had a nice smokey flavour.
